(GABA) Tournament Starts Off With a Power Packing Punch

Mapusa, 21st February 2019: Goa Boxing Association (GABA) held its Annual State Championship Boxing Tournament on Thursday, Feb 21st at Peddem Indoor Complex, Mapusa.

The Tournament was organized by the GABA Organizing Committee which was part of the annual championships that helps players around the state to come together in fighting bouts and prove their prowess and skills at the state level. The 4 day event commenced with 30 fighters who participated in day 1 of the tournament.

The inaugural day hosted 10 matches which featured  some of the outstanding boxers under its fixtures like some prominent achievers like Santosh Harijan who is currently an army boxer and Jr. Asian Champion Gold Medalist as well as Vishwanath Naik currently under the gloves of Indian Air Force.

Goa Boxing has produced some outstanding names in the boxing arena under the capable leadership of GABA led by Mr. Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Revenue, Information Technology and Labour & Employment.

this year’s tournament is expected to grow to a new level keeping in mind the efforts of the new committee in promoting Boxing and gaining the rights to Junior West Zone Championships soon in the State later this year in April. The efforts are on to be able to select a strong team for Goa and represent the state at all Nationals and earn a chance to the Indian National Camp selections.
